I grew up with at least two dogs and two cats as part of our family so I've always enjoyed the company of animals.
Having tried my hand at the natural health and beauty industry, dentistry and administration, before studying Animal Science, it was actually a volunteer role for my Certificate IV in Companion Animal Care that sparked the realisation that I could have a career in animal care, without being a vet.
Since 2014, I've fostered and adopted four huskies and a malamute mix, while working as a pet carer.
My favourite part of this role as Pack Leader is that my days revolve around showing the dogs a good time. I love being able to tailor walks to each individual need and watching dogs socialise and have an amazing time. I have also started my Certificate III in Dog Behaviour & Training.
My ambition is to lead a team of pet carers to develop their skills and build strong bonds with our clients and their pets. I love that I can be the "fun human" for so many furry babies, teaching them that the world has lots of amazing experiences for them to enjoy.
I love nothing more than going to work every day and working with animals, it’s what truly makes me happy. The welfare of animals is a huge passion of mine and I will not rest unless I know each and every animal is cared for appropriately.
I have an enormous amount of patience and empathy with animals and I am so passionate about animals and their happiness. I am extremely understanding with them and I am also greatly affectionate towards them. It is my absolute dream to love and care for animals for the rest of my working life. I am eager to pursue animal studies in the future.
I am definitely used to and love receiving slobby kisses, scratches/battle wounds from play, and looking a bit homeless after a fun day at work!
My tertiary qualifications include a certificate 3 in Animal Care and Husbandry, with a Certificate of attainment in Animal Management. I currently possess 8 years of professional animal handling experience with cats and dogs of various breeds, gained through roles including, veterinary assisting, dog walking, pet sitting, pet grooming and my recent role as a cattery palatability senior specialist for Purina in the United States.
Prior to working in the United States, I was employed as a dog walker and petsitter in the Inner West and Lower North Shore of Sydney for two years. Travelling to work was not a problem for me at all, and I have sound knowledge of the Inner West district. My duties included group walks, both on leash and off leash, individual walks, pet sitting in client homes and offering medication/veterinary attention as needed, while managing my schedule according to client requests.
Lifting heavy weights, working in adverse weather conditions and getting covered in slobbery kisses and mud is not a problem to me as I put my furry four legged companions needs before mine. I want to ensure they are having a wonderful adventure while out exploring with me, and receive the best care possible if they aren't feeling well.
